About Us

We are a first-generation family farm, owned and operated on 27 beautiful acres of land in Higganum, Connecticut. Our goal is to create a regenerative ecosystem using permaculture design principles that will provide for our family and the local community for generations to come.

Meet the Higgies

Evan

Evan is the jack of all trades. Whether he is building structures, tending to the animals, or fighting erosion on our land, he is the heart of our farm operation. As a United States Marine Corps Veteran, he has found farming to provide a therapeutic, purposeful, and rewarding lifestyle. A carpenter by trade, he uses his skills to pursue a more simple and sustainable life. This passion is what brought Higganum Hills Farm to life.

 Marisa

Being a farm caretaker is what brings Marisa the most happiness. To ensure a healthy herd and flock, Marisa is responsible for researching and providing the necessary care to each animal. She enjoys keeping everyone up to date on all the farm adventures through our social media platforms. Marisa’s dream is to open a farm shoppe on the property where she can share her handcrafted creations. Aside from working the farm, Marisa is a Registered Dental Hygienist and after a long day, you’ll find her snuggled up with her dogs and reading a good book.

Lexi

When you don’t find her in the garden, you might stumble upon her in the woods identifying wild plants and fungi or cooking up her harvest in the kitchen! Lexi has a special place in her heart for rabbits, especially our little Chester, and hopes to create a paradise for multiple rabbit breeds at Higganum Hills in the future. Outside of her duties as a Higgie Helper, Lexi works in marketing research and enjoys painting with watercolor.

Alex

Alex is our resident farm busy body! He is always up to something whether it be helping Evan with the latest farm project, doing research on new animals and permaculture principles, or working on our website. In the future, Alex hopes to create a place of peace and learning at Higganum Hills where people can come to enjoy being close to nature and understand our in a thriving ecosystem. Off the farm, Alex works as a physical therapist in Essex, CT, and maintains devoted practices in both yoga and the art of bonsai.
